The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger's debut novel, made its author a literary superstar. This unconventional love story about an involuntary time-travelling librarian and his artist wife has sold more than 2.5million copies. The novel that critics have called, "an elegy to love and loss", has enjoyed both critical and popular success and has recently been adapted for the big screen. In Niffenegger's eagerly awaited second novel, Her Fearful Symmetry, she tells the story of American twins living in a haunted flat overlooking Highgate Cemetery in London - Niffenegger spent a year working in the cemetery as part of her research. Niffenegger is also a visual artist and has published two graphic novels, The Adventuress and The Three Incestuous Sisters. Most recently she has been publishing The Night Bookmobile, a serialised graphic novel that appears in the Guardian. Join her in conversation with Lynn Freeman.
